Guidance and Loving Relationship School
INTRODUCTION
Education in Malaysia is always evolving to ensure that all citizens receive education as outlined in the Malaysia Education Development Plan (PPPM) to meet the goals of the education system and the aspirations of students. This situation is in line with the concept developed by UNESCO, which is Education For All (EFA).
Therefore, the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) has introduced the Compulsory Education Policy and circulars regarding the enrollment of students in schools. Circular Letter Ikhtisas No. 1/2009 dated March 11, 2009, issued a directive stating that any child who does not have documents and one of the child's parents is a citizen, can be registered as a student in government schools and government-assisted schools after obtaining a letter of confirmation or certification from the village chief.
With this policy, KPM has provided formal education access to these children.
It accepts Malaysian citizens for schooling from preschool to upper secondary levels (aged 5 to 17 years old). The categories of children accepted into SBJK are :
- Street children
- Marginalized children
- Children without identification documents
- Orphans living under registered child care centers
The family backgrounds of SBJK students consist of children of social workers, parents involved in drug-related issues, criminal behavior, disorganized family institutions, those without permanent residences (homeless), and the hardcore poor.
