OBJECTIVE

Ensuring the sustainability of education quality in educational institutions

FUNCTIONS OF THE SCHOOL INSPECTORATE

In line with the Education Act 1996 (Act 550), which provides for the School Inspectorate as the body responsible for determining national education quality standards, the responsibilities and roles that must be carried out by the School Inspectorate are as follows:

• Inspect educational institutions at appropriate intervals to ensure the quality of teaching and learning (PdP) and the management of the institutions.
• Ensure that educational policies and regulations are complied with by educational institutions.
• Provide advisory services related to the management of educational institutions and matters pertaining to teaching and learning methods to the relevant authorities.
• Submit inspection reports of educational institutions to the Minister of Education.
• Formulate the National Education Quality Standards.
• Carry out other tasks related to the inspection of educational institutions as directed by the Minister of Education.

CLIENT CHARTER

We, the School Inspectors, with full commitment and dedication in carrying out the duties and responsibilities entrusted under the Education Act 1996, hereby pledge to focus our efforts to:

1. Conduct inspections at least once within a five-year cycle for no less than 70 percent of schools.
2. Provide advisory services to the responsible authorities regarding the educational institutions inspected, through joint discussions and written reports, to enable the institutions concerned to take appropriate improvement actions.
3. Submit the Educational Institution Inspection Report to the Minister of Education within no later than 30 working days upon the completion of the inspection.
